Exporting your Pet to New Zealand

World-Class Hounds will assist you in your travel plans and your final destination requirements for your pets within New Zealand

Our Export Services Can Include:

  • Your dedicated Pet Travel Consultant will assist you through your entire export

  • A new IATA Approved Pet Travel Crate that we can arrange to be delivered to your home to help your pet acclimate prior to travel if desired

  • A full timeline and advice for Veterinary treatments and test required for your country of export

  • Arrangement of your Australian and International Permits, Government Health Certificates and Final Veterinary treatments

  • Boarding and lodgment of your pet on their international flight

  • The option for private Pet Taxi service for collection and drop off

Requirements for New Zealand:

New Zealand has exceedingly strict Quarantine laws for pets. There are now 2 Babesia Gibsoni blood tests required to be cleared before export can occur from Australia.

Dog Requirements

  • ISO Microchip Implanted prior to all treatments/tests

  • Heartworm Blood Test - ELISA blood test within 16 days of departure if over 6 months

  • Heartworm Treatment - Within 4 days of departure

  • Babesia Gibsoni PCR Test

    • First Test - 30 days prior to second Blood PCR Test

    • Second Test - 30 days after first Blood PCR Test, within 16 days of departure

  • External Parasite Treatment

    • First Dose - Within 30 days of departure, min 14 days prior to second dose

    • Second Dose - Within 2 days of departure

  • Internal Parasite Treament

    • First Dose - Within 30 days of departure, min 14 days prior to second dose

    • Second Dose - Within 4 days of departure

  • Australian Government Export paperwork, final Veterinary inspection and health certificate

    • Optional - C5 Vaccination given minimum 14 days prior to departure

Cat Requirements

  • ISO Microchip Implanted prior to all treatments/tests

    • First Dose - Within 30 days of departure, min 14 days prior to second dose

    • Second Dose - Within 2 days of departure

  • Internal Parasite Treatment

    • First Dose - Within 30 days of departure, min 14 days prior to second dose

    • Second Dose - Within 4 days of departure

  • Australian Government Export paperwork, final Veterinary inspection and health certificate

    • Optional - F3 Vaccination given minimum 14 days prior to departure

Commercial Pets

  • Please note that NZ Government will expect GST payment on both the value of pets coming into NZ deemed to be commercial as well as their travel costs. These are payable upon collection of your pet upon landing and clearance and are separate to customs fees.

Additional Information

  • We welcome our clients to perform both the bloods and first parasite treatment at their local vet clinic. World-Class Hounds will assist you in requirements and dates as well as compliance
